MOVETIS NV - founded 2007 - is an independent Belgian biopharmaceutical company which specializes in developing compounds for gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. The current portfolio has been licensed from Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, Belgium and Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc., US, two Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) companies.

MOVETIS is developing their portfolio of eight products and two discovery platforms which are concentrated on important areas of unmet medical need, including severe, chronic constipation, ascites, pediatric reflux, diabetic gastroparesis and severe forms of dyspepsia.

MOVETIS has secured €49 million in series ‘A’ financing from major European and US investors - one of the biggest series ‘A’ rounds in Europe – and is using these funds to complete the development and registration filing of its lead phase III product for constipation, and to continue preclinical and clinical development of seven other products.

MOVETIS operates as a lean discovery and development organization with a team of experienced managers guiding all projects. Drug discovery and development support activities are largely out-sourced to a group of preferred universities, institutions, CROs and contract manufacturers.
